It's difficult to find new people with the current features. I find new people on twitter because of the retweet and like connections, but no way to do it here.
Yes discoverability is important. In fact what you're seeing here is the beginning of one solution to this problem.

Do you plan permissioned groups (or whatever you call /c/)?
unwriter replied:
what do you mean by permissioned?
slb replied:
Creator invites users to a group, otherwise they cannot see it
unwriter replied:
Ah so you mean like a private group. What kind of use cases are you envisioning? For example, even within a private group category there can be various configurations: 1. the group itself is discoverable through search but you can't see anything inside. you need to be approved to read and write 2. the group itself is discoverable through search and you can read posts, but you can't write unless you're approved 3. the group is completely secret and doesn't show up on search results, and the only ones who have direct invites can join 4. etc.

I have some friends having paid closed groups on facebook and paid closed groups makes more sense on powping than on facebook. That is (1.) or (3.) I guess.
Maybe if comments are visible in some way on the feed, the reply can lead to new people
unwriter replied:
Yes I've thought about this too (the twitter way). But the main reason why this has not been implemented is because this is how Twitter leads to so many out-of-context retweets which is the root of all evil. I am pretty satisfied with the quality of discourse happening on PowPing so far, and I think one of the reasons for that is because when you engage in a conversation thread, it's effectively creating a small bubble among those who are involved, and people feel much safer to carry on conversations without having to worry about any of their messages getting taken out of context and used as an attack vector. That said, I'm all ears on any ways to improve discoverability, i'm listening to all suggestions and appreciate feedback.
