Making a shopping list in case of unexpected local lockdowns in the coming weeks, and I've got last year's experience to draw from, which is kind of sad. Lockdowns destroy industries and real people suffer. Lockdowns don't create more products or services.
The purpose of a lockdown isn’t to create more products or services, why would it be?
hammerbrook replied:
I don't know what the purpose of a lockdown is(also, do all lockdowns share the same purpose?); I observe, with my own eyes, what lockdowns do to ordinary people.

The purpose is to save lives, not create products and services.

Interesting bit from Craig Wright but Swedish parliament just approved an emergency law allowing the government to place limits on public places, fine individuals and order businesses to close down. “Sweden’s death rate of over 80 per 100,000 people is among Europe’s highest and is around 10 times as great as those of Norway and Finland, and over four times Denmark’s. COVID-19 hospitalizations are now rising faster there than in most European countries, and Sweden is caring for more patients in hospital now than it did at the height of its first wave. By Dec. 21, Sweden had surpassed the United States and all major European countries in its daily confirmed cases per million. Things have gotten so out of control in Sweden that neighboring Norway, for the first time since World War II, put troops on the border to prevent Swedes from crossing over.”

Of course lockdowns are no fun, but what about not being able to breathe? That sounds pretty rotten, too.
