Maybe we should change the "tip" button to something like a "like". It's actually a bit similar to how a Facebook like button works. Here's what happens when you "tip" someone. 1. You send them some micropayment 2. The micropayment history is recorded and displayed on the post as a record 3. This contributes to the total economy of the post, and it gets bumped up inside the "active" tab. 4. Tipping also acts as a way to "watch" a thread evolve. By tipping a post even 1 cent, you will get notified whenever there's a new comment added to the thread. You can also get notified by commenting to the thread, but if you just want to watch the thread develop, this is a great way. Any thoughts?

If I see something funny, cool, interesting etc I think that should be a preset "Like" (0.01) Where as if I'm learning something from someone's content or they are helping me specifically then I would tip. When you hit the tip button it could come up with like 3 amounts ($1, $5, $10 etc) which can also be set in your profile. Big tippers could get a flair of some sort. I don't think typing in amounts all the time is user friendly because when I'm shitposting drunk I might accidentally send $10 when I meant $1.

Also you want the option to not verify the likes, they should be fast and fluid. You want hitting that button to feel good.

I will implement this idea. yeah that is cool! you got a point.
Why rename something that feels right? Also, "tip" became a rather cute word since we started to use it in PowPing.

ya, adding a "like" button where it also tips 'by default amount' set for tip by user they wanna tip on every post when pressing "like" kinda would be cool (example: $0.01 set for "Like" by user and the user is tipping that amount on every post whenever he/she 'likes' any post.
An alternative is to keep the tip button as is, but to add the Like button as you describe it above?
unwriter replied:
Even though they do the same thing?
neokiewiet replied:
Wont you make the Like button a fixed amount. Or based on an amount defined in your profile settings.
morpheus replied:
Tip is a good name. Why? Because it's - optional - customary - amount provides signal of - post "performance" - tipper appreciation - tapper's ability to appreciate. However "tip" may not be a good name If it's a branding thing, Different functions should have different names in order to more properly program our humans. Maybe pick something entirely new due to the reason it has different functions than tips and likes in 9ther applications. Suggestions for other names: joy, recognition

yeah, I think there’s a subtle distinction in the meaning of a tip vs. a like. I think a like is about support or agreement while a tip is more about value and appreciation.
